Check you are using a recent browser
As a security measure FTB uses 128-bit SSL encryption to help protect customer information on the Internet. Some older browsers are not capable of providing this level of security.
If you use an old browser you may be prevented from using the service.
Upgrading for most browsers is free and simple to do. Below is a list of some of the more common browsers along with brief instructions on how to check your browser version and level of encryption.
Internet Explorer 6 & 7 Users
To determine the version:
- At the top of the browser window in the toolbar section, please click on 'help'
- From the Help dropdown menu, please select 'About Internet Explorer'
- The version number will appear in the window
Version 5.5 or higher will already have 128-bit SSL encryption.
Mozilla Firefox users
To determine the version:
- At the top of the browser window in the toolbar section, please click on 'Help'
- From the Help dropdown menu, please select 'About Mozilla Firefox'
- The version number will appear in the window
All versions of Firefox have 128-bit SSL encryption.

Check your browser is not saving your password
Some browsers may ask you if you wish the browser to save your password. This can be a useful and time-saving option for some single password sites.
Online Banking will ask for different digits from your PAC each time. In this case a browser with a 'saved password' will try to use the wrong 'password'.
To stop this from happening follow the instructions below:
Internet Explorer 6 & 7 Users
- From the toolbar menu, click on the Tools button
- Select 'Internet options'
- Select the 'Content' tab
- Select the 'AutoComplete' button
- Select the 'Clear Passwords' button and click 'Ok' when prompted
Mozilla Users
- From the toolbar menu, click on the Tools button
- Select 'Options'
- Select the 'Security' tab
- Unselect the 'remember passwords for sites'
- Click ok

Check you have access to secure sites
It may be that your internet connection has been set up in such a way that it will prevent you from accessing secure sites. This is more common in business environments than at home.
If this is the case, you will get a 'page cannot be displayed' error when logging in to Online Banking. To confirm this is the case below are links to two sites that have no affiliation with AIB but are hosted on secure sites.
If you are able to view both of these sites then you do not have a problem with accessing secure sites.
If however, you could not access either sites you will need to contact either your IT support (if accessing from within a business environment) or your service provider if you are accessing the internet from home.
